Position Overview

Trulieve, a leading emerging company in the cannabis industry, is looking for a Payroll Tax Analyst to fill a key role within the payroll team. This position is hybrid with significant remote work with possible travel to our corporate office. Candidate will report to the Director of Payroll. The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring the Company’s ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. This role involves managing relationships with tax processing vendors to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. The Analyst is responsible for independently analyzing, researching, resolving issues, and addressing related tax inquiries. They will specialize in payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside. Which includes working with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives. This role is both hands on and strategic, so the ability to work across both ends of the range is crucial. If you have keen attention to detail and experience in handling complex tax structures, we invite you to apply and join our dynamic team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage the setup of state and local payroll tax accounts, including completing registration applications, submitting required documentation, and resolving any challenges that arise during the process.
  • Responsible for working with the Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to address all incoming payroll tax notices and payments with discretion. Including researching internal and external resources to determine their status and possible coordination with vendors for resolution.
  • Works with internal and external teams to address discrepancies, clarify tax obligations, and implement effective payroll tax strategies.
  • Assists the payroll team in tax-related employee queries.
  • Maintain and help drive innovations and execution to support accurate and efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrate self-sustainability by taking ownership of tasks and proactively addressing tax-related issues.
  • Conduct audits of divestitures and business mergers to ensure all payroll tax accounts are accurately closed with Senior Payroll Tax Analyst as needed.
  • Collaborates with auditors and 3rd party agencies to gather data for tax audits.
  • Stay on top of state and federal regulations to maintain compliance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related work experience.
  • Experience with MasterTax is a plus
  • 3-5 years related experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll taxes for a mid-to-large size company.
  • 3-5 years of payroll tax experience with a complex legal entity structure.
  • Prior experience filing, paying, and amending federal, state, and local tax
  • Consistently achieves goals by prioritizing work and resources appropriately.
  • Extensive experience with payroll systems and various forms of reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word)
  • Able to work in a high growth environment under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively.
  • Utilize tools such as SAP, SuccessFactors, SharePoint, ZenDesk (ticketing system), and MS Suite (Outlook, Excel) in daily tasks.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to prioritize various levels of complexity.
  • High level of attention to detail, technical and analytical skills
