Position Overview 

Trulieve, a leading company in the cannabis industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support key accounting and financial reporting activities within the Finance and Accounting organization. This position will support monthly and quarterly close activities, account reconciliations, consolidated financial reporting, management reporting and analysis, and external reporting requirements. The role will also assist with maintaining accounting master data, supporting internal and external audits, and improving financial reporting processes and systems. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally with teams throughout the organization and must demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage recurring deliverables in a deadline-driven environment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in a timely and accurate manner. 

  • Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly financial reporting schedules, including consolidated financial statements, revenue reporting, account rollforwards, cash flow rollforwards, noncontrolling interest analyses and rollforwards, and balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses. 

  • Properly record, reconcile, and maintain assigned accounting areas, including noncontrolling interests, cash flow rollforwards, consolidations, revenue reporting, general ledger administration, cost center administration, and other assigned accounts and liabilities. 

  • Assist with preparing quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, related disclosures, and supporting workpapers. 

  • Assist with preparing state-level carve-out financial statements and other reporting required under applicable state cannabis regulations. 

  • Maintain and support accounting master data and related processes, including general ledger accounts, cost centers, change logs, and request tracking. 

  • Gather documentation and provide audit-ready support to internal and external auditors for quarterly reviews, year-end audits, and other assurance activities. 

  • Research and respond to accounting and financial inquiries by analyzing and interpreting financial data and understanding the underlying business purpose and accounting rationale. 

  • Assist with implementing, documenting, and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, and supporting documentation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company requirements. 

  • Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and applicable company policies and procedures. 

  • Identify and participate in process improvements, system enhancements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements involving SAP, Workiva, Microsoft 365, and other financial reporting tools. 

  • Proactively communicate status updates, risks, delays, and unresolved issues to stakeholders and management to facilitate timely resolution. 

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures, training materials, and knowledge-transfer resources to support continuity and scalability across the team. 

  • Participate in special projects and prepare ad hoc accounting and financial analyses as requested. 

 

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. 

  • At least four years of progressive accounting experience; a mix of public accounting and corporate experience is preferred. 

  • Current knowledge of U.S. GAAP. 

  • CPA or progress toward CPA licensure is a plus. 

  • Experience working with external auditors. 

  • Demonstrated success working independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented environment, with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. 

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting software and systems, particularly SAP and Workiva, is preferred. 

  • Experience leveraging Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Teams, and Word, to improve productivity, collaboration, documentation, and reporting. 

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively communicate with stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and escalate issues in a timely manner. 

  • Experience developing, maintaining, and improving process documentation, standard operating procedures, and audit-ready workpapers. 

  • Proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen controls within accounting and financial reporting processes. 

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to understand the business purpose and accounting rationale underlying assigned processes. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with subsidiaries. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and XLOOKUP or comparable functions. 

  • Self-starter with the ability to learn new responsibilities quickly and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. 

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background screening.
