Location: Pittsburgh, PA preferred, covering all of the Northeast

Travel Requirement: Extensive (multi-site, overnight, including weekends as needed)


Role Summary

The Profit Protection Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of inventory and cash control across assigned retail locations while ensuring compliance with all state-mandated regulatory requirements. This role oversees a strategically deployed Profit Protection team within a designated geographic area and works closely with internal business partners to safeguard company assets, promote operational integrity, and reduce profit loss.

The Profit Protection Manager builds strong, collaborative relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to support company goals and foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout retail operations.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory & Loss Prevention Oversight

  • Partner with state leadership to develop and execute inventory strategies aligned with company goals and operational objectives.
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly physical inventory counts in collaboration with Profit Protection Specialists and Regional Operations Managers.
  • Review inventory results, identify trends, and implement corrective action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support retail locations with inventory controls, including receiving, transfers, verification processes, organization, and count preparation.

Investigations & Asset Protection

  • Lead and coordinate investigations related to internal and external theft, including:
    • Reviewing exception-based reports
    • CCTV analysis
    • Conducting employee interviews as appropriate
  • Utilize Wicklander & Zulawski interview and interrogation techniques as the primary investigative methodology.
  • Collaborate with Security teams to conduct covert surveillance and randomized monitoring to resolve internal theft.
  • Develop and maintain investigative awareness and compliance programs within the retail organization.
  • Drive investigations through resolution, including prosecution when warranted.

Store Assessments & Training

  • Conduct weekly and monthly store assessments, including educational interactions with retail team members.
  • Lead or participate in profit protection training sessions for retail employees.
  • Facilitate profit protection meetings focused on identifying and preventing inventory and cash loss.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Compliance, HSE, Security, and other business units.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with corporate partners and hub leadership.
  • Administer and enforce company policies and procedures consistently across locations.
  • Lead and perform internal audits of complex business processes.

Additional Requirements

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in Retail Loss Prevention / Asset Protection
  • Preferred experience within the cannabis industry
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass Level 1 and/or Level 2 background checks and drug screening
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must meet all physical and functional job requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 lbs to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight for up to 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, kneel, crouch, reach, and maintain balance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Work Schedule

  • 48+ hours per week with flexible scheduling based on business needs
  • Availability required for evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel as necessary
