ROLE SUMMARY
The Marketing Messaging Manager – Arizona is responsible for translating state marketing strategy into clear, compelling, and high-performing customer communications across all channels. Reporting to the Senior State Marketing Manager, this role owns the end-to-end execution and optimization of messaging to drive traffic, revenue, and customer engagement. This role leads the development and deployment of integrated, omnichannel communication plans across email, SMS, website, retail digital screens, and in-store signage. The Marketing Messaging Manager ensures that all communications are aligned to state priorities, consistent across touchpoints, and executed with excellence. Serving as the day-to-day owner of campaign execution, this individual partners closely with digital, creative, retail, and cross-functional teams to bring campaigns to life. They are responsible for briefing creative, guiding execution, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and optimizing performance based on data and insights. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and performance-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while continuously improving marketing effectiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Planning & Execution
• Translate state marketing strategy, promotional calendar, and business priorities into integrated communication plans
• Build and manage daily, weekly, and monthly messaging calendars across all owned channels (email, SMS, website, retail screens, in-store signage, etc.)
• Ensure message consistency and clarity across all customer touchpoints
• Execute communications for key campaigns, product launches, activations, and revenue-driving moments (e.g., 420, 710, holidays)
Campaign Development & Delivery
• Own the end-to-end execution of marketing communications campaigns, from briefing through deployment
• Develop clear, strategic creative briefs that translate business objectives into actionable direction
• Partner with internal creative teams and external agencies to develop on-brand, high-performing assets
• Collaborate with digital marketing teams to build, QA, and deploy campaigns across channels
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and on-time execution of all communications
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Serve as the day-to-day lead for marketing communications execution, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams
• Partner with digital marketing, brand, merchandising, retail, production, and compliance teams to support campaign execution
• Provide clear communication and guidance to retail teams on campaign messaging and priorities
• Lead weekly work-in-progress (WIP) meetings to track timelines, surface risks, and ensure on-time delivery
• Escalate risks, tradeoffs, and key decisions to the Senior State Marketing Manager as needed
Performance Tracking & Optimization
• Monitor and report on campaign and channel performance, including engagement, conversion, and revenue impact
• Analyze customer data and campaign results to identify insights and optimization opportunities
• Partner with digital teams to develop and execute testing strategies (A/B testing, segmentation, timing, channel mix)
• Continuously refine messaging, cadence, and channel approach to improve performance and efficiency
• Conduct post-campaign analyses and provide actionable recommendations
Customer & Channel Excellence
• Develop a strong understanding of customer behavior, segmentation, and lifecycle marketing
• Leverage CRM/CDP insights to support targeted and personalized messaging strategies
• Ensure all communications are aligned with brand standards and customer experience expectations
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and channel effectiveness

• On-time, error-free campaign execution
• Email/SMS engagement and conversion performance
• Contribution of marketing communications to traffic and revenue goals

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in marketing, CRM, or communications execution
• Proven experience managing multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, SMS, web, retail)
• Strong understanding of customer lifecycle marketing and segmentation strategies
• Experience developing creative briefs and working with creative teams or agencies
• Professional team-player, collaborative and open to feedback
• Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into action
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• High attention to detail and commitment to executional excellence
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with CRM/CDP platforms and marketing analytics tools preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) a plus
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be 21+ years of age
• Must be able to pass required background checks and screenings
• Valid driver’s license required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
• Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks
• Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions
• Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderatenoise)
WORK SCHEDULE
• 45+ hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs
• Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required, particularly around key campaigns and retail events
• Fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring adaptability and responsiveness
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure requirements of this position can be fully met.
