Assistant SOC Manager

Job Purpose:

The Security Operations Manager will provide best-in-class security customer service, prompt communication delivery and support to each operational/support function and locations within their scope. The Assistant SOC Manager is responsible for all internal SOC tasks and the management of its personnel. The Security Operations Center Provides communication and awareness for leadership and tactical direction for each security function. The Assistant SOC Manager will work alongside the team to identify, detect, and respond to information of security incidents, communicating development(s), maintaining awareness, and follow procedures for security events. The Assistant SOC Manager may participate in security investigations as needed. The Assistant SOC Manager should have familiarity with the principles of physical security.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Serves as technical expert on all SOC matters including items related to monitoring and response to all facilities and properties under your span of control.
  • Provides intelligence to business partners on time-sensitive security tactics for incident management,
  • Ensures SOC staff compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Promotes an environment of professionalism, compliance, and continuous improvement, to meet the Corporation's operational goals and objectives.
  • Develops and maintains highly qualified and motivated SOC staff that support the overall business mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Collecting and assessing incident reports and developing and implementing communication plans for security incidents and events.
  • Creates and manages audit processes for security, compliance and overall quality of work and information coming out of the SOC
  • Creates compliance reports to support the SOC’s audit process
  • Measure the SOC’s performance metrics, and report on the overall security posture
  • Ensures the SOC is adequately staffed for 24/7 operations to support standard operations and adjustments for high-volume days.
  • Maintains and updates SOC Training materials, policies and SOPs
  • Updates and ensures action is taken on Critical Incidents and SOC Training Tracker
  • Coordinates with SOC Lead on training schedules and ensuring continuous improvement of all SOC Operators

The Assistant SOC manager plans for all responses to company asset loss, facility response, damage, theft, emergency management, etc, and mitigates responses as needed. This is accomplished through specific communication, organized partnerships, operational planning, physical security and proven operational security which is driven from the Director of Security Analysts and Operation level of need. The Assistant Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager is responsible for the direct oversight of a team of 10 SOC operators, providing leadership in scheduling, coaching, training, and performance management. This role ensures consistent adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and quality control measures. The Assistant SOC Manager works closely with SOC leads to track, audit, and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the team's work product, continuously driving operational excellence within the SOC. This position also participates in a rotating on-call schedule, serving as the 24/7 escalation point for critical security incidents and operational issues during assigned on-call weeks.

This role will report directly to the Director of Security Analysts and Operations

Security Operations Center:

  • Manages the nation from the Security Operations Center; identify trends, concerns, or recommendations for real-time threat and field level security professionals
  • Manages and reviews SOC tickets to validate documentation and response to security incidents. Including incident reports, security inspections, safety inspections, risk assessments, security threats as they pertain to our overall business objective
  • Meets quarterly with regional security managers and supervisors to review incidents, events, and improved security responses.
  • Manages and requires employees to support the business from a national perspective. Maintains the ability to leverage resources, relationships, and systems to proactively mitigate potential threats and risks to a rapidly growing company
  • Reports and conducts training with security employees as needed. Ensure they are aware of outcomes we can facilitate through maintenance, physical security, training, and training exercises
  • Provides direction, assistance, and leadership to achieve desired results
  • Maintains an open line of communication and partnership with Corporate/Operations Management throughout the nation
  • Manages cadence of regular audits to evaluate the performance of SOC team members
  • Monitors and reports on risk to our leadership team and our employees

 

Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of SOC work experience
  • 3 or more years of management work experience
  • Experience in management, IT Security, operations, ITIL framework, agile project management, or leadership.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees Experience with managing a diverse group of technological oriented members
  • Must possess leadership, communication, conflict management, people management, reporting, critical thinking, and problem solving, and planning and organization skills
  • Proven ability to manage all operations, maintenance, and functions of the Security Policy, within the environment
  • Broad understanding of Cyber Security and Network is a must
  • Candidate will possess ability to be a successful self-starter
  • Possess excellent communication, negotiation, and managerial skills
  • Experience with managing diverse groups of technologically oriented people
  • Strategic thinking; focused on providing business value to end-users      
  • Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Experience with complex problem solving and being detail oriented
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have strong leadership skills

Salary will be commensurate with experience.   A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
