Data Analyst 

Department: IT – Data and Analytics 

Location: Tallahassee, FL or Remote 

Reports to: Director of Data Analytics and Reporting 

FLSA Status: FT Salaried Exempt 

 

Role Summary: 

A strong opportunity to grow your analytics career at a company on a fast growth path with a modern, cloud-based data platform. The Analytics team generates the insights, solutions, and recommendations that drive decision-making across the company, spanning multiple states and functional areas including sales, operations, finance, marketing, merchandising, retail, cultivation, production, and supply chain. 

The Data Analyst delivers accurate, well-documented analyses and dashboards that business partners rely on. You will take a defined business question, find and validate the right data, produce a clear answer, and present it in a way a non-technical audience can act on. This role suits someone who is already comfortable in SQL and wants to deepen both their technical range and their business judgment, with guidance from senior analysts and the analytics manager. 

You will partner closely with the Reporting and Data Engineering teams. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write, test, and document SQL against large data sets to answer business questions, validating results before they are shared 

• Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports in Power BI, keeping definitions consistent with team standards 

• Analyze performance trends across sales, operations, and merchandising to surface risks and opportunities, escalating what needs deeper investigation 

• Turn analysis into a clear written or visual story: state the finding, show the supporting evidence, and note the caveats 

• Present results to business partners and department leadership, and answer follow-up questions about method and data quality 

• Support senior analysts on larger, cross-functional analyses and modeling work 

• Use team standard methodologies for data collection and metric calculation; partner with Data Engineering and Data Governance to flag and resolve data quality issues rather than working around them 

• Participate in peer review, both submitting your own work for review and reviewing others' 

• Work with business analysts to clarify requirements and translate them into an analytical approach 

• Investigate data discrepancies and reporting issues, including root cause analysis, and document what you find 

• Data mine for trends and anomalies across multiple data sets, distinguishing correlation from causation 

• Build a working understanding of the Trulieve business model and the key drivers behind each metric you report on 

• Support a data-literate culture by making your work reproducible and your definitions explicit

• Limited domestic travel possible 

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in an analyst or reporting role 

• Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative field; equivalent practical experience considered 

• Proficient in SQL, including joins, aggregation, window functions, and CTEs, with the habit of validating query logic before trusting the output 

• Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI or a comparable BI tool 

• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and analytical functions 

• Working knowledge of applied statistics: averages and distributions, rates and ratios, period-over-period comparison, and the limits of a small sample 

• Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain a result and its caveats to a non-technical audience 

• Curious, detail-oriented, and willing to say when a number does not look right 

• Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset; comfortable asking questions and working with moderate direction 

• Familiarity with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks 

• Exposure to Python for data analysis (pandas or similar) is preferred 

• Experience with retail, wholesale, or multi-location operations data is preferred 

• Experience in a regulated industry such as cannabis, pharma, alcohol, or tobacco is a plus 

• Exposure to SAP S/4 or another ERP is a plus 

• Experience working in an Agile environment is a plus 

• Comfortable with PowerPoint for presenting findings
