The Retail Planning Manager also leads and develops the Retail Planning team, establishes consistent planning standards, and drives accountability for forecast quality, business insights, and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Lead the development and management of store-, market-, and category-level sales, unit, inventory, and KPI plans, ensuring alignment with financial targets and business priorities.

•   Own POD plan tracking, including plan attainment, performance gaps, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions across markets and product categories.

•   Own order flow and carry-over analysis to improve visibility into demand timing, inventory movement, future-period exposure, and execution against plan.

•   Monitor and communicate gross margin percentage (GM%) and average order total (AOT) trends, identifying key drivers and actions to improve performance.

•   Lead year-over-year comparisons across revenue, units, transactions, customers, AOT, UPT, GM%, and inventory performance to explain changes and inform future plans.

•   Establish and manage the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual retail planning cadence, including performance reviews, forecast updates, and leadership reporting.

•   Lead recurring business reviews by identifying trends, risks, and opportunities and translating complex analysis into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.

•   Develop scenario models and sensitivity analyses that quantify the effects of pricing, promotions, assortment, customer behavior, inventory availability, order flow, and store growth.

•   Drive inventory productivity through demand planning, replenishment analysis, assortment evaluation, and identification of out-of-stock, overstock, aging, and carry-over risks.

•   Partner with Retail Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and other stakeholders to align forecasts, inventory strategies, promotional plans, and business priorities.

•   Own planning KPIs and reporting standards, including POD plan attainment, forecast accuracy, sales-to-plan performance, inventory accuracy, weeks of supply, in-stock rates, promotional performance, data quality, and compliance adherence.

•   Create executive-ready weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting that clearly communicates business performance, financial implications, decisions required, and recommended actions.

•   Support annual budgeting and long-range planning by developing data-driven revenue, unit, margin, inventory, customer, and operational assumptions.

•   Identify and implement improvements to planning processes, reporting tools, data governance, and analytical workflows to increase speed, accuracy, consistency, and scalability.

•   Monitor cannabis regulations, competitive activity, market dynamics, and territory-specific developments and incorporate relevant insights into plans and recommendations.

•   Lead, coach, and develop Retail Planning Analysts and Senior Retail Planning Analysts, including workload prioritization, analytical review, performance feedback, and career development.

•   Lead high-priority planning initiatives and independently manage deliverables, timelines, stakeholder communication, and follow-through.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•   Strong financial and retail acumen, including an understanding of revenue, units, transactions, customers, pricing, GM%, AOT, UPT, inventory productivity, and promotional performance.

•   Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with rigorous attention to detail, data accuracy, and reporting consistency.

•   Executive-ready written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex findings, present recommendations, and influence decisions across multiple functions.

•   Proven ability to lead teams and cross-functional initiatives, balance competing priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

•   Collaborative and proactive leadership style, with the ability to coach others, set clear expectations, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive accountability.
