Job Title: Southeast Director of Secuirty 

Reports to: National Director of Security

Location: Remote/Travel-Supporting our SE Region (Candidate living in North FL or South GA, Tallahassee or Panhandle area preferred)

Travel: Up to 50% travel in SE region

Status: Exempt

 

Job Purpose:

The Director of Security will provide best in class security service and support to each operational/support function and locations within their region. The Director of Security provides leadership, training administrative direction, security management, strategic support, and security solutions to the region assigned (SE, NE, and W Regions), Area Security Managers (ASM), and all relevant support staff. The Director of Secuirty ensures the protection of the company’s most valuable asset, it’s employees. The Director of Security manages Area Security Managers to empower them to facilitate physical security and management security. They manage ASM’s plans for company assets, facilities, damage, theft, etc, and mitigates risks as needed. This is accomplished through partnerships, phased operational planning, management security, physical security and operational security which is driven from the Director of Security level of operations. Utilizing the Security Operations Center will allow reports and tracking of calls for support. This role will report directly to the National Director of Security.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Management/Leadership:

  • Coordinates quarterly with the Chief Production Officer(s), Chief Cultivation Officer(s), and Chief Retail Officer(s) to coordinate concerns and resolve
  • Coordinates with ASM’s to coordinate with Retail, State Production, Cultivation, and Retail partners to engage with key leadership strategies
  • Nurtures regional security norms, policies, and rules; monitors state and regional activities, and proactively plans, formulates, and configures regional security dynamics
  • Conducts operational reviews with each ASM monthly
  • Conducts one to one mentorship/guidance with each ASM at least monthly
  • Manage ASM’s and staff in the day-to-day physical security and safety operations for all offices, security guard services, business partners and vendors, etc.
  • Reviews the Regional Security Plan regularly
  • Provides the regional operational order and scheduled annexes after approved by the Deputy Director to ensure accountability and efficiency is occurring

Administrative/ Operations:

  • Maintains accountability of administrative reports, review regularly
  • Reviews all processes regularly for effectiveness and desired effect
  • Creates, controls, and manages processes that compliment national or regional objectives/desired effect
  • Establishes regular communication plan with Plant/Site Managers to establish threat awareness and the use of reaction plans
  • Plans, manages, and reviews complex events and operations to ensure continuity of operations
  • Requires that priorities are identified, collected, staffed, tracked, and resolved while remaining customer service and professionalism
  • Ensures incidents are tracked, issued a investigation case number, fully investigated and provide incident reports, briefings and after action recommendations to leadership

 

Security Management:

  • Manages a regional security and safety program to scale while delivering a world-class employee, customer, and client experience
  • Manages each discipline of security to result in security driven results that align with company and department objectives
  • Coordinates with National Directors and Deputy Security Director to facilitate the vision and intent of the department
  • Cultural leader for safety and security; highly experienced and proficient in all elements of physical, personal, management, administrative, and operational security
  • Issues an annual security posture statement, threat statement, and vision for each calendar year. These statements are issued in January or as indicated by the National Deputy Security Director
  • Assists ASM’s and staff with the development of security protocols (SOPs) and guidelines for each office, including access control standards and policies, visitor management, fire/life safety, event security, incident response, security guard operations, technical security solutions, safety and emergency preparedness training for staff
  • Implements security and threat management programs to support the safety and well-being of employees and physical assets
  • Maintains relationships with law enforcement and understands the nuances of working with security partner agencies at every level
  • Provides direction and support necessary to acquire the highest quality security talent with vendors, including office guards, private security providers and other security personnel

Security Operations Center:

  • Manages the region via the Security Operations Center; this center can be helpful in the identification of trends, concerns, or recommendations for real time threat analysis
  • Reviews site inspections, safety inspections, quality inspections and other reports which may be of value to identify security threats or risks to our overall objective
  • Requires the experience necessary to manage and support a large region, and an ability to leverage resources, relationships, and systems to proactively mitigate potential threats and risks to a rapidly growing company
  • Conducts training with site supervisors quarterly to ensure they are aware of outcomes we can facilitate through maintenance, physical security, training, and training exercises
  • Provides direction, assistance, and leadership to achieve desired results
  • Maintains an open line of communication and partnership with Corporate/Operations Management throughout the region and nation
  • Designs and conducts a cadence of regular audits to evaluate the performance of security team members, contracts, and established SOPs
  • Plans, communicate, and train employees, response teams and the security workforce on emergency plans
  • Coordinates security exercises in conjunction with Deputy Director for Security
  • Monitors and reports on risk to our leadership team and our employees

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • Government/Private sector security management certification preferred
  • A minimum of 5+ years of large-scale corporate security experience required; (Law enforcement and military experience included)
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and resource deployment
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies
  • Solid project management skills with ability to achieve results
  • Executive presence with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, effective at building trust
  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning and fiscal management
  • Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Experience with complex problem solving and being detail oriented
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have strong leadership skills

Salary will be commensurate with experience.   A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
