Position Title: Technical Delivery Manager – E-Commerce

Department: E-Commerce Delivery

Reports To: Director IT Delivery

Location: Remote

Position Summary:

The Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) – E-Commerce leads and orchestrates complex digital commerce initiatives that span multiple systems, teams, and vendors. This hybrid role merges strategic program leadership with hands-on technical delivery, ensuring seamless execution from planning through production deployment.

The TDM brings a high level of technical fluency in e-commerce architecture, CMS platforms, and backend integrations, and is equally comfortable managing stakeholder expectations, guiding Scrum teams, and validating functionality in QA or Stage environments. They bridge the gap between Product, Engineering, and Business, ensuring that all initiatives deliver measurable value, quality, and performance.

This individual is results-driven, adaptable, and deeply collaborative—able to flex between Agile, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies to find what works best for the business while maintaining discipline in process and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical & E-Commerce Expertise:

  • Demonstrate conceptual technical understanding of e-commerce architecture, including CMS systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Page Designer and WebCenter Sites (WCS).
  • Understand the full digital commerce funnel—from Product Listing Pages (PLPs) and Product Detail Pages (PDPs) to checkout and retention flows—and how they tie into business performance.
  • Maintain visibility into backend integrations (OMS, ERP, APIs, personalization engines, analytics) to identify dependencies and potential risks.
  • Understand and track key web performance indicators (page speed, Core Web Vitals, conversion rate, bounce rate, cart abandonment) and ensure continuous improvement across releases.
  • Champion regression, automation, and performance testing principles to drive quality at every stage of delivery.
  • Translate complex technical details into clear business impacts and vice versa.
  • Participate directly in UAT and validation in QA and Stage environments, ensuring readiness for production deployment.

Program & Delivery Oversight:

  • Own delivery scope, schedule, and risk management for e-commerce initiatives across multiple domains and vendor partners.
  • Translate business goals into executable delivery plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across Product, QA, Tech Ops, and Development teams to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Leverage governance tools such as the Deployment Calendar, Capacity Tracker, and E-Comm Dashboard for visibility and status reporting.
  • Identify blockers early, escalate proactively, and maintain focus on quality and results.

Release Management & Coordination:

  • Oversee release readiness across Dev, QA, Stage, Pre-Prod, and Production environments.
  • Manage key milestones, change control processes, CAB reviews, and rollback planning.
  • Ensure release documentation, communication decks, and timelines are consistently updated and distributed.
  • Validate release success criteria and ensure operational stability post-launch.
  • Lead post-release retrospectives to identify improvements and strengthen delivery discipline.

Scrum & Agile Facilitation:

  • Serve as Scrum Master or Agile Facilitator for one or more e-commerce delivery teams.
  • Lead ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, mid-sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Promote strong ticket hygiene, dependency tagging, and sprint goal alignment.
  • Flex between Agile, Kanban, and Waterfall based on project maturity and business context—adaptable in process, consistent in quality.
  • Ensure collaboration and transparency across distributed delivery teams.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:

  • Deliver clear, actionable updates to leadership on program status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage cross-functional communication between technical and business teams to maintain alignment and momentum.
  • Develop and share release decks, deployment summaries, and readiness reports using defined templates.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement across all delivery functions.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program or delivery management within an e-commerce or retail digital technology environment.
  • Deep technical understanding of CMS systems (AEM, WCS, Magento, Contentful) and integrated commerce architecture.
  • Hands-on experience in UAT, QA validation, or Stage environment testing.
  • Familiarity with frontend and backend development concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
  • Strong grasp of web performance metrics and their business implications.
  • Experience driving regression, automation, and performance testing as part of the delivery lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies, and the ability to apply the right framework for each project.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on quality, predictability, and customer impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading multi-vendor programs (e.g., WebScale, Adobe, Bounteous, BlueShift, Annex, Globe, Presto).
  • Background in Magento, SAP Commerce, or other enterprise commerce platforms.
  • Experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics 4, Glassbox, etc.).
  • PMP, CSM, or SAFe certification.
  • Core Competencies
  • Technical Systems Thinking
  • E-Commerce Architecture & CMS Expertise
  • Agile & Scrum Leadership
  • Release & Change Management
  • Web Performance Optimization
